Olympian Tom Scott grew up in Texas at the Academy of Classical Karate with a dream shared by many martial artists—to one day compete on the Olympic stage. After decades of dedication, international competition, and championship victories, that dream became reality when he qualified to represent the United States at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics in the men’s −75 kg kumite division. The moment was especially historic because karate was included in the Olympic Games for the first—and so far only—time, making Scott part of a unique chapter in martial arts history. Competing against the world’s best at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Scott represented Team USA with pride and determination, winning multiple matches and finishing among the top competitors in the world. His journey from a young Texas karate student to an instructor here at Plano Dojo to an Olympic athlete continues to inspire the next generation of martial artists to dream big and pursue excellence on and off the mat. 🥋🏅
