Sensei Scott
Instructor
Both Tom and the Academy of Classical Karate have seen years of growth and have come far from their humble beginnings. Tom is the Team Captain of the United States Olympic Karate Team and continues to pursue his world and Olympic dreams. He has enjoyed every adventure thus far. For Tom, Karate has always been his big communicator with God, and through it he looks forward to learning more on each journey.
His advice for junior athletes is to be patient. “Don’t get discouraged by a loss. Our greatest performances are often spurred by a loss, so welcome the opportunity to grow. I wouldn’t trade my history, losses, or silvers for anything; they became my character. If nothing can discourage you, what can stop you? Right now you should be learning lessons. We’ll always be learning lessons. Analyze your performances so you can improve by not making the same mistakes and keeping what you do well. Again, be patient and hungry. Remember to stay humble because your time is coming.
